ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Maximilian. I'm a hobbyist photographer & editor. My work is a mix of styles and I like trying out different things. My ultimate goal is just to have fun with my work. I'm not about the technical aspects or necessarily the emotional aspects of photography right now. I'm just trying to be creative and have fun doing it!

I have no formal photography training. I grew up with a camera always in my hands though. I used film back in the day (because there was no digital yet lol). I went through a lot of point-and-shoots. Then I occasionally played around with a Canon Rebel. But the photos I took were just to record memories with my friends, at hangouts, at school, at parties, etc. I shot our group photos and a LOTTTTT of candids.  There was no structure or art to it; I was just preserving memories.

Editing wise... I don't know how I began. You know how when you're hanging out with your friends and you take a group pic and there's that one person missing? So they say, "Photoshop me in." I'd be the guy who did that. I started off with MSPaint, and sometime in college, I started playing around with Photoshop. But I only knew how to do basic things, and my workflow was destructive and really novice.

In 2017/18, I started trying out portrait photography with my friends. It was just basic. In Jan 2019, I decided to try doing portrait photography more seriously. I vastly improved my Photoshop skills and knowledge during that year, and I'm always learning new things and experimenting. Follow my journey on Instagram @max.aperture
